If anyone is interested please feel free to message me, I would prefer to deal in the UK but if you are overseas dont hesitate to message as im sure a deal could be done.

Blog News - Hobby Mishaps and Progress Advice

So folks after a massive break from the hobby (for which I will forever feel guilty) I am starting to get back on the hobby horse, and have decided to finally clear out some of my unused forgeworld stuff (including some super heavies) on ebay to make way for some more massive FW projects to come my way to make me enjoy it a bit more.

I recently had a bit of a hobby mishap where an entire platoons worth of guard which were in the process of being stripped got ruined, somehow they all melted despite me using the normal stuff I use. Admittedly they were older plastics so that could have been the cause. that was about a month ago and kind of knocked me wanting to get back going but I think I'm there now.

I am now looking to restart these guard and potentially revisit my existing models but there is still a question ongoing in my mind. On the shoulders of the models above (I dont know if you can see it) there are brass etch eagles and inquisition =I=s (and variations there of) on the other, in addition to the helmet and chest eagles. I am trying to decide if I should do one of the following three things with them, should I:

  • start picking them out in the grey/white used on my inquisitor terminator is worth it
  • leave them green and subdued (and potentially lost)
  • remove them and have the pads just painted plain green as with the rest of the armour
Any thoughts on this progress would be appreciated, hopefully there will be some proper hobby progress soon!

Blog News - A Return and a request for Canada!

Hi Folks,
I have returned to the blogosphere, things might be a bit slow for a week or so as I sort through models, airsoft kit and various odds and sods. Im having a clear out so will be sell much, mainly airsoft kit. On top of that I'm going to be stripping some models, once done things will be back to normal.

Now on to the favour, I'm looking for blog followers in the great nation of Canada, specifically those in the BC and AB areas. After our recent honeymoon there we happened in to a Starbucks on our last day or so and saw their Where you are mugs, we managed to get a couple but there are some from locations we went to we would love to get. I'm hoping someone might be able to help us out with sourcing and shipping them over to us, obviously I would cover all costs and a little extra for your troubles. if you can help please drop me a line either below or in the messages.

Thanks for reading and hope to have some more content on the blog soon.

Hi Folks,

Once I return I hope to resume normal, if not increased, service as soon as possible.

Thank you for bearing with me and hope you are all still here when return.

Airsoft Armoury - Ops Core Helmet Redux

Hi Folks,
time for another update on a little Airsoft project. As some of you might remember last time we saw the Ops Core Fast Helmet replica it looked a little like this:

Since then I've played a few games in it and come to love it, the only problem is that whist it does blend in, often it also stands out, mainly against the greens. It just ends up as a brown spot.
With that in mind I recently purchased a nice Multicam helmet cover from the wibbly wobbly web, now im not normally a fan of covers but i must say this does look sweet.

My only concern is, that like the MICH (that i will be selling soon) it loks like its missing something. I cant quite put my finger on it but just not sure what it needs. Any thoughts?

Forge World Newsletter #352 - SoH Reaver Squad and Despoiler Squads

As always all the important bits below:

=========================================

Horus Heresy

Hi there,
Up for pre-order this week we have Mk II, Mk III and Mk IV Despoiler squads, and a unique Sons of Horus unit in the form of the Reaver Attack Squad. As well as this, we also have some exciting news regarding this weekend’s Games Day North America.

Sons of Horus Reaver Attack Squad
Sons of Horus Reaver Attack Squad
Reaver squads in many ways epitomised the Sons of Horus Legion’s way of war. Heavily influenced by the tactics used in the incessant tribal warfare of Cthonia, Reaver units specialised in lightning-swift assaults which maimed and disabled their foes; striking down leaders, and mercilessly cutting down any who were weak or isolated. Each Reaver unit, whether squad or entire company in strength, was effectively a warband in its own right, and its warriors fought more as individuals than regimented soldiers, and all were utterly lethal against the enemies of Mankind during the Great Crusade.
The Sons of Horus Reaver Attack Squad, designed by Alfonso Giraldes, is a multi-part resin kit containing five incredibly detailed Space Marines, five bolt pistols, five chain axes, a power fist, a hand flamer, five helmeted heads and one Sergeant head. This kit is available to pre-order now for despatch from Friday 2nd August.
Rules for the Sons of Horus Reaver Attack Squad will be found in our forthcoming Horus Heresy book.
Legion Despoiler Squads
Legion Despoiler Squads
If fighting is expected to be at close quarters, such as in boarding actions or trench clearance, Tactical squads can sometimes forgo the standard bolter in favour of the combination of a bolt pistol and chainsword, allowing the Astartes more manoeuvrability in whatever tight confines they may find themselves in. These more assault orientated units are referred to as Despoiler Squads within the Legiones Astartes.

The Mk II, Mk III and Mk IV Despoiler Squads, designed by Will Hayes, are complete multi-part resin kits comprising five Space Marines armed with bolt pistols and chainswords. All three kits are available to pre-order now for despatch from Friday 2nd August.

Hobby Update - Project Raptor and Baneblade WIPs

Hi Folks,
just to show I haven't been idle lately (a lot of wedding planning and visiting has been going on) its time to update on what work has passed through the workspace recently.

First up we have Project Raptor, one third of the project is now assembled (minus cockpit) and I must say the model looks awesome and is better then I thought it would be, I just hope I do it justice when I get to paint it.

Also over the weekend I spent time sat in the garden building the Baneblade I have had in the cupboard for about two years. The model is great, very clever and a lot bigger then I remembered. My only gripe is I really don't like the track assembly, the links just don't seem to gel when being built but over all I really like the model.

Hopefully these will get sprayed up before I go off in August for my honeymoon. I also need to finish some Chimeras and if time allows to get my Russes assembled and some guard stripped. Any updates or useful things I will share before then :)

any questions or requests for images of things I might have worked on please let me know.

News - The Bolter & Chainsword Updates

Folks, time for some great news from the Bolter and Chainsword. See the below updates from their facebook group.

Brother Argos here
... I have spent most of the day trying to organise a new server and the tech team who will configure it and get our data back. I ended up feeling a bit useless not being able to do the work myself and was getting frustrated.

However as I was just about to go to bed I decided to check the donations@bolterandchainsword Paypal account to see how we were doing and was completely a...mazed / stunned.

We have raised just over $4000 in less than 18 hrs or so.

This will let us get a very good server for our new home and help considerably with our running costs. We can now afford the linux server guru I want to use to do the work I cannot. After a pretty bad weekend with no server and diminishing hope, my faith in the basic good nature of humanity (gamers especially) is restored.

Looking at the results, I think we need to thank you all for your contributions. No matter how big or small you stood up and were counted. We got donations as large as $500 - $1000, all the way down to $1 or $2.

I am going to leave the donations page up, as the more we get will help with further costs. In the morning I will purchase a new server for us, and let the Techmarines who don't require bionic eyes get down to work.

Well done everyone who donated ...

The Emperor Protects!

- Brother Argos

Further update from the B&C:

New server purchased, hardware components being assembled by the hosting team now. They should be finished by 10pm GMT at the latest.

Next stage will be operating system install, which will most probably take place tomorrow.

After that they still have to move 260gb of data from the damaged drive onto the new server and start setting up the web side of things.

==========================================

So folks, it looks awesome and soon the B&C will be back! Gives me an excuse to interact more and get some more power armoured models worked on.

News - The Bolter & Chainsword is currently Offline

Folks this is too important to leave off the page! Please read and support the nets favourite Power Armoured Forum.

The Bolter & Chainsword is currently Offline.

On Friday 12th the Bolter & Chainsword appeared to suffer a hard drive failure, replacement drives were purchased but failed to remirror correctly when added to the server. Eventually after much testing it was discovered the server hardware was causing the problem and it appears we will need to purchase a new server. Given the age of the server (10yrs - it was installed in 2003) this was expected to some degree and we have some funds from previous donation drives saved for this.

However the timing for this event is not good, Brother Argos who pays for the B&C and is also the technical admin has for the last 6-9 months been fighting severe proliferative diabetic retinopathy, had numerous operations on his eyes and unfortunately has lost a significant amount of his sight. We had hoped he would be recovered enough after his last operation to help us move to the planned new server, however given the timing of the current scenario this will not happen.

We have found a technical resource, who can rebuild and move the B&C to a new home, however this will be chargable. As it currently stands the Bolter & Chainsword needs to raise around $800 - $1000 in addition to the funds we currently have put by to make this happen.

Brother Argos has funded the B&C to the tune of $18,000 dollars over the last 10 years, so that we could all enjoy our community, he is not in a position given his illness to rescue us now.

It is your community, if you wish it to survive you need to raise around a $1000, if we raise more it will all help get a better server for our new home.

There is a paypal button below which sends money to donations@bolterandchainsword.com, if you have enjoyed visiting the Bolter & Chainsword click the button below and show us.

As and when we get more information you can find us at Our Facebook page we will also update this holding page.

Remember the words of Roboute Guilliman Primarch of the Ultramarines - "to admit defeat is to blaspheme against the Emperor"

Airsoft Armoury - MICH 2000 Helmet Completed

Well folks the work has been completed and the pictures are finally here. Some time ago I started work on my MICH and bought a load of odds and sods for it as seen here:

As you can see this was origionally going to be a MICH with a marpat cover, however since I bought all these items I moved away from Marpat and over to Multicam so decided the cover wasnt really suitable. I decided then to spray the helmet and move to a patterned design.

In the end the parts used were the NVG mount, a set of Ops Core Rails, the surefire replica, an emerson chin strap and the velcro i ordered. The origional strap bought was flawed and unusable so i had to replace it.

To paint the helmet it was base coated Sand before being wrapped in the Scrim net in the picture above. Once wrapped I dusted the helmet with Olive Drab and Dark Earth paints, both mixed well and gave the finish below:

Personally despite the bulk of the helmet compare to my FAST helmet i like the effect. There seems to be something missing and i would like to add some more bits to the helmet, I just cant put my finger on what to add though.

So there you have it, the completed (at least base completion) of the MICH 2000.

Any thoughts and comments on the helmet would be great.
